The Historic Schooner Ernestina
The 115 year old Schooner Ernestina has just finished a major restoration of the forward part of her hull and is to leave the Boothbay Harbor Shipyard today. She will stop in Glochester and Boston this week and transit the Cape Cod Canal Friday, May 8th, just after noon. The old girl is scheduled to return to New Bedford on Saturday escorted by the Cuttyhunk Ferry.
If you get a chance to visit along her course or view the Canal transit I think you'll find it an exceptional site.
A good article is on the New Bedford Standard Times front page for Monday, May 4, 2009.
Regards,
Fred
